Derbyshire Stone: History and Heritage

Derbyshire stone refers to several types of stone quarried in the Derbyshire Peak District in England. The most common types are slate, sandstone and limestone; a light-coloured stone, often creamy white or grey, that is popular for use in building and construction.

The type of stone found in Derbyshire varies depending on the location. The White Peak, in the west of the county, is known for its limestone, while the Dark Peak, in the east, is known for its sandstone.

Derbyshire stone has been used for centuries in construction projects throughout the UK. Some famous buildings that use Derbyshire stone include Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and even Buckingham Palace.

Surprise and Delight: Applying Our Creative Expertise

Our client wanted the traditional sash look without the maintenance often required with wooden frames.

Because of this we suggested products from our Anthracite Grey Collection; supplying and fitting timber lookalike anthracite grey UPVC sliding sash windows, French doors, and composite rear and side entry doors. The perfect way to add contemporary contrast to a classic property, while being sensitive to the original brief.

Going above and beyond, our Director John also suggested having the windows a different colour on the inside to the outside. A unique idea that our client said was a fantastic suggestion they hadn’t thought of before. Overall, both our team and the client felt that the on trend colour completely transformed the look of the property, infusing a sense of both high quality and individuality.
