Biophilic Design for a Beautifully Modern Property in Belper

Biophilic design has become a significant trend in property development. There’s now a huge focus on integrating nature-inspired elements into built environments. An approach which aims to enhance human wellbeing by reconnecting us with the great outdoors. Many developers we work with are increasingly incorporating various biophilic elements; celebrating natural light and abundant outdoor views. This was very much the case during our most recent project in the beautiful Derbyshire town of Belper.

The Power of Nature

The concept of biophilic design leans into the beauty of nature with features such as lush landscaping, calming colours and rustic materials. It also relies heavily on making the most of the natural beauty all around us which is why choosing the best fenestration solutions is so essential.

The upshot? Thoughtfully designed spaces that potentially could reduce stress, boost creativity and promote overall wellbeing in today’s busy modern world. Additionally, biophilic design often emphasises sustainability and energy efficiency, making it an attractive option for environmentally conscious developers and buyers.

Working closely with our clients, we curated a bespoke list of options to achieve this exact effect. In the end, the clients opted for Sheerline aluminium bifold doors, flush casement windows and bespoke French doors. Meanwhile we advised to go for a front door from the Smart’s aluminium designer door collection to complement the rest of the products.

An Authentic Approach to Home Design

We often talk about ‘bringing the outdoors in’ but what does this look like in practice? Quite simply, well chosen doors and windows align with biophilic design philosophy perfectly. They maximise natural light, blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors and provide that all-important visual connection to nature which can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

External glass bifold doors, in particular, create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. This fosters a sense of openness and connection to the environment. And by offering panoramic views, our flush casement windows unlocked and rekindled our clients’ relationship with nature.

Nestled within the Derbyshire countryside, this property now feels like part of the landscape. Connected with the surrounding greenery in a truly meaningful way.

Practical Benefits Not to be Overlooked

The glass exterior doors chosen also offer several practical benefits for the homeowners.

They enhance natural light penetration; brightening interiors and reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day for a more light and airy atmosphere.

Also, our glass doors provide a clear view of the outdoors. This allows our clients to enjoy their stunning country surroundings and gives them greater ability to monitor activity outside. A simple home security update that works well as part of a multi-layered system.

Finally, the modern glass used is energy-efficient. This environmentally conscious approach helps to regulate indoor temperatures and reduce heating and cooling cost eventually leading to savings.

A stunning finish worthy of its surroundings

Combining rustic red brick with anthracite grey helps achieve a contemporary-yet-classic look suited to the local neighbourhood. This adds an element of transitional design and introduces a sleek, elevated aesthetic to this property’s already impressive façade. The client is extremely happy with the finish and was delighted the project ran smoothly and was finished on time. We look forward to working on more projects in the Derbyshire area very soon.
