A stunning coastal development with military heritage
On the Suffolk coast sits the majestic former HMS Ganges site. Used as a naval training base during the second world war, it’s nestled within the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Home to inspiring scenery and wildlife it’s now also the setting for Barrelmans Point. An idyllic new development by the prestigious Wavensmere Homes in partnership with Galliard Homes.
Helping to highlight the natural landscape
Barrelmans Point will be a 60-acre waterside village settled on the tranquil Shotley Peninsula which was recently voted as one of the best places to live in the UK by The Times. Delivering the ultimate in luxury living, this ambitious project is sure to become one of the most scenic spots to live in the UK. The multiphase development will eventually include hundreds of homes overlooking the River Orwell plus a shopping mall and gym with swimming facilities. All tucked away in an area regarded as a ‘best kept secret’ and rich in maritime history. Needless to say, sourcing the right windows and doors was essential.
Nurturing a strong client relationship
We previously worked with Wavensmere Homes on another landmark development (the beautiful Nightingale Quarter in Derby). Following its success, they were delighted to partner with us again. As always, the Wavensmere team required a safe pair of hands to bring this unique project together. In this instance, Sales Manager Steve Renshaw took charge of managing the supply and fit. Experienced Office Manager, Oliver Kearns, was responsible for keeping administration organised throughout.
Bespoke solutions for thoughtfully designed homes
Renowned for its authenticity, Wavensmere Homes prides itself on attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Barrelman’s Point is no different. This collection of almost 300 new builds will be surrounded by panoramic coastal views, which needed to be taken into consideration when hand selecting fenestration solutions. With our expertise, we were able to recommend cavity closers, flush UPVC window frames, French doors, utility doors and composite front doors. We also advised on the best flush casement UPVC window frames.
Going above and beyond to get the job done
As part of all our projects, we strive to cultivate genuine connections with all points of contact in order to drive momentum and keep to schedule. This was especially key with a project as spectacular as Barrelmans Point. We achieved this by making multiple visits to the Wavensmere Homes offices in Birmingham to talk through samples. To ensure the project ran on time, we also formed a close relationship with their project manager Dave who was based in Ipswich.
An impressive development that’s one to watch
Ultimately, Wavensmere Homes expected nothing less than exceptional quality for a fair price, which we delivered. Our good relationship combined with our expertise in coastal properties and luxury developments meant we far exceeded requirements. Not least because the lifestyle of future residents has been enhanced with immersive fenestration solutions that truly showcase the beauty of the natural world.
Set to be completed in 2027, Barrelmans Point represents a perfect balance of functionality and luxury. We eagerly look forward to revisiting when all phases are complete. Stay updated with the progress of this project by following Wavensmere Homes and Galliard Homes on Instagram.
