Aluminium Heritage doors are a range of thermally efficient, slim-profile doors designed to replicate the classic look of traditional steel doors. They offer modern performance while preserving period aesthetics, making them ideal for renovation projects, heritage buildings, and high-spec contemporary designs where a slim, elegant sightline is desired. Our range encompasses French doors, bifold doors, and single entrance doors, all engineered to meet stringent building specifications for thermal efficiency, security, and durability.
Aluminium Heritage doors combine vintage styling with state-of-the-art engineering. The Fenea system features ultra-slim aluminium profiles that mimic the appearance of original steel-framed doors often found in historic properties. Despite their slim sightlines, these doors incorporate polyamide thermal break technology (an insulating barrier within the aluminium frames) to drastically reduce heat transfer. This ensures the doors achieve modern thermal performance standards without compromising their traditional look. The result is a door suited for conservation areas or listed buildings, providing classic charm with 21st-century performance.

All Fenea’s Heritage door variants (French, bifold and entrance doors) share a common platform of technical features that ensure high performance. The engineering focus is on retaining the aesthetic of early 20th-century steel doors while meeting the expectations of 21st-century building standards.
The aluminium profiles are thermally broken with polyamide strips to meet modern thermal regulations. This design achieves U-values of 1.4W/m²·K for double-glazed door units, satisfying Approved Document L requirements. The improved insulation helps reduce heat loss and can contribute to energy ratings equivalent to those of contemporary standard aluminium doors.
Fenea Heritage doors are fully weather-stripped and tested for air permeability, water tightness, and wind resistance. They meet or exceed the requirements of BS 6375-1 for weather performance, meaning they can withstand severe weather conditions, ensuring suitability for exposed locations. Marine-grade finishes are available where required.
Despite slim frames, our doors use high-strength aluminium alloys that are compliant with BS EN 755-2/BS EN 12020 manufacturing standards. The result is a sturdy door that can support large glass units and heavy usage. The hinge and locking points are reinforced within the profiles for longevity and security.
Multi-point locking systems are standard on aluminium Heritage doors. When the door is closed and locked, multiple bolts or hooks engage into the frame, protecting against forced entry. Hinges are security-grade with fixings that prevent pin removal (or are internally glazed to avoid external attack points). Our Heritage door installations meet PAS24 and are Secured by Design accredited, indicating they have been tested and approved by the UK Police security initiative for resistance to burglary.
Aluminium Heritage doors use tempered safety glass and non-combustible aluminium frames. While not fire-rated unless a specific fire-rated variant is specified, the use of metal and safety glazing means they comply with general safety regulations for doors in escape routes and can be used in most residential and commercial applications where standard fire resistance is acceptable.
